Bears catching fish in the Tongass Forest.

Anan Bear Observatory
ANAN BEARS
Anan Creek is located on the Tongass National Forest (35 miles) South East of Wrangell, Alaska, accessible only by boat or float plane. Anan Wildlife Observatory is world renowned for its extraordinary bear viewing opportunities. Home to one of Southeast Alaska's largest pink salmon runs, it attracts a significant number of bears, both black and brown, as well as hundreds of eagles, seals and other wildlife that rely on the salmon as a major food source.

Anan creek and bay and its salmon run have been culturally significant for decades as local natives and now other visitors enjoy its incredible beauty and astonishing natural richness.
Our Anan Wildlife Observatory excursions are 5 to 8 hours in length fully guided by our highly trained staff including certified naturalists. Tours depart from Wrangell on a sightseeing tour boat cruise. Plan for a half mile walk on a well maintained trail to the observation deck and photo blind. We keep our groups very small and customize itineraries to improve your opportunity to view and photograph wildlife in its natural setting. Anan Wildlife Observatory visits are best in July and August and highly sought after. Visits require special permits that are limited in number for each day. Early reservations for this tour are highly recommended. $278.00 per person with a minimum of 2 people. Please call us so we can tell you more about this once in a lifetime trip.
30% DEPOSIT REQUIRED AT TIME OF BOOKING TO HOLD RESERVATION. BALANCE DUE AT THE TIME OF YOUR TRIP*
*CANCELLATION POLICY: A refund of your deposit could be possible if we can re-book the space*

What's different about us?  When you are a guest of Alaska Charters and Adventures you are special, not a number in a crowd. We will know what your specific interests, limitations and experiential goals are for each excursion even before you arrive.  Because our boats travel with 6 or fewer clients (unless your group is larger) we are better able to cater to your objectives and timeframes.  Our captains and guides are highly trained professional mariners with many years of experience in the wilderness.  Your guide and captain will be specifically selected for you the day you book, you can expect the quality of a mature, full time, naturalist certified guide dedicated exclusively to you.  No large crowds, impersonal attitudes, novice or adolescent captains! Additionally, we dedicate a full day to your adventure.  You will not be rushed through the experience in order to accommodate the two departures a day that many other operators schedule.  Alaska Charters and Adventures carefully tailors every excursion to your personal schedule, interests, and with hopes of exceeding your expectations in every way.
